We turn your donations into grants to support community and school gardens.
Food insecurity isn't just a lack of food; it's a barrier to education, a threat to health, and a cycle that traps families in poverty. It affects children, seniors, and hardworking individuals who, due to various circumstances, can't access nutritious meals regularly. The consequences are dire, impacting physical and mental well-being, hindering personal development, and perpetuating inequality.
Our Solution:
The Square Foot Gardening Method
At the Square Foot Gardening Foundation, our Founder, Mel Bartholomew, created a solution that empowers people with the ability to grow fresh produce. This gardening method has 2 critical facts at the core of this solution.
1. It maximizes yield through efficient space use, and is adaptable to any environment or soil condition.
2. It is accessible to all people, with zero gardening experience, and with very limited start-up costs.
Why Your Support Is Important
In food deserts, there is little, if no, access to affordable nutritious vegetables. And so often highly processed, less nutritious food is the only option for vulnerable communities. Our grants provide resources to start Square Foot Gardens and support the maintenance of these gardens.
Your generous donations are at the center of our mission. They provide the resources needed to teach communities how to grow their own food, whether it's on a windowsill, a balcony, or in a community garden. Your support is an investment in a brighter and healthier future.
Be the Change. Your contribution, whether big or small, can transform lives. Together, we can cultivate a brighter, more nourished tomorrow.
